Buy a set of left handed drill bits at Harbor Freight, they work much better than the easy outs, are cheaper and are easy to remove if they break
a stripped phillips head holds the tip of the drill nicely. use a drill bit just a little bigger than the shank of the screw, and just drill through the head. once the panel is apart, you may find that the heat from drilling has loosened the screw.
Heat the screw with a big soldering iron and then hold a birthday candle to the head. If not worried about heat damage to suroundings, torch works well.
