The gas cap on my 914 is frozen. I can't open it.

Could this be a pressure problem or possibly a weather problem? It has been awfully cold lately. Below freezing on some nights but warming up to 70 today. It's the plastic cap on the later model car.

A friend's took her BMW to the dealer because she couldn't remove the gas cap.

It turns out that the vent was clogged, but it had the world's most powerful fuel pump. The near empty gas tank had completely collapsed from the vacuum drawn by the pump.

My 914 had its' gas cap seal so tight it would starve for fuel.  Maybe the cold weather generated some vacuum that sealed the cap and warmer weather will reduce the vacuum.

There's a hose under the gascap on the tank filler neck. Disconnecting it would assure there isn't a vacuum.

Try pushing in and wiggling it, I had the non vented cap on my mercedes stick and about gave me a hernia getting it off.  You can try putting dry lube Teflon spray on it once removed.
