I'll freely admit I'm on a learning curve, but why do STI brembos cost more than Porsche brembos. You can literally buy a 996 set of 4 for 2/3rds the price of a full STI set. Which brings me to the why of Subaru braking in general. Seems like Subaru rears are about as useful as rear brakes on a Ducati.
They're more desireable for the hotboi with the base model legacy or WRX. Supply, meet demand. I think most people buying 996 brembos are replacing an OEM set whereas people buying STI brembos are trying to hop up their non-brembo vehicle.

IIRC people were using evo brembos as well. In fact the evo brembos i've seen swapped into a dozen different cars. You could try looking at that.
Get the red 4 pots instead of the Brembos. They fit inside 15" wheels and are good enough for WRC use. You can find them used and new for way less than Brembos.

And lots of guys with the FR-S/BRZ/twins, even though they wreck the brake balance. But hey, it says Brembo.

Not exactly sure what you mean by red 4 pots. I thought the standard WRX were single side 2 pot up front and the STI were 4 pot. FWIW, I'd do all 4 wheels. Not a fan of the kits that just do the fronts and screw up the balance

Look up Subaru 4 pot and 2 pot brakes. You can get then as JDM take offs easily or buy them new.
This will work and doesn't destroy Brahe bias. There are rear 2 pots to match. Subaru used these on WRC cars under 15" rally wheels. They are plenty good just not Brembo flashy.
