In what might be one of the shortest press releases in automotive journalism history, Subaru announced that a “sharper and more focused BRZ” would be unveiled at Subiefest California on July 23.

[Is a hotter Subaru BRZ on the way?]

Now (on July 24) we can confirm that the teased BRZ is the 2024 BRZ tS. No bump in horsepower …

Yeah, that car is in DS with me and it doesn't need any more horsepower, its doggone fast.

Called it. I would have been (pleasantly) surprised if it had been anything else.

Bigger brakes and retuned dampers....straight to BS.

Nice!  A few goodies to potentially enhance oil starvation via better cornering!wink

Can't say I've heard of Hitachi as a damper manufacturer.

Looks like a plain BRZ is a little North of $33k...if these wind up kissing $40k, I don't see the value proposition

Is it much different than the previous TS?  Wagner in Fairborn OH had one at $50K+ back around 2019 at 2019 dollars.

Boo, Subaru's driver aides suck and I don't want to have to worry about them when I buy one of these in 15 years.

They've only existed for about a century, though with a few different names/sub brands over the years. These are from the same manufacturer as the base car and the first gen twins.

It's interesting that the GR86 performance package gets sachs dampers where the BRZ just gets retuned stock dampers...maybe there's some truth to the rumors about the two models' development going seperate ways in the future. Not that the sachs dampers are necessarily better, just different.

Lucky for you nobody's going to buy one (according to the posters in this thread.)

By fifteen years old they'll have gotten to the point where replacing the oil starved engine is expensive enough that it totals out the car so most of them will have been scrapped and the few remaining will be rare and therefore too expensive for this crowd.

In reply to dps214 :

You assume that they'll be bought new. At all.

I've heard of Hitachi in other markets, just not car stuff. Apparently they're like the other Japanese conglomerates making all kinds of stuff.

In the US aftermarket, you knew them as Tokico.

I expected "performance oriented" to mean they added a mic to the engine compartment so they could pump engine sounds through the stereo while driving. also more stickers.

It's already got an electronic noisemaker that simulates engine sounds. Easily unplugged, fortunately.

I just let the dealer turn it off when they did first oil change. It's strange that you can access almost every other option on the car through the headunit, like turning off the steering-responsive headlights, but not the fake noise.

The first gen had a physical tube that connected the intake to the cabin to pump in engine noise.
