Hey, where is the knock sensor on an '02 Subaru 2.5?
I just bought a 70k-mile 2.5 TS for a beater and it has an intermittent code 0328 for knock sensor. I figure it's not a hard fix but NASIOC for some reason seems to list conflicting locations for it.
Is it on top of the block behind the alternator, on the top of the driver's side cylinder bank behind the TB, or both?
Thanks.

Mine's not here to check, but the last time I saw one it was on the driver's side top of the block IIRC. Pretty easy to get to. I think. Or I could be confusing it with the cam sensor...
Edit: google image search found this:
Where's it at?

Rear of the drivers side of the block, between the intake manifold and the TB. It's easy to get to, but it's pretty far below the top of the intake manifold, a few long socket extensions and a good light are key.

Pull the air box that connects to the throttle body to gain some more access room. Getting the old one out is easy enough, putting the new one in without sufficient hand room is a bit tougher. Took 20 minutes the first time I did one.
Becarfull on the conector it not easy to get both arms down there to get it apart....even harder to get the soldering iron down there to fix the brocken wire....
