We've got a kid with a JDM 98 Forrester, EJ20 turbo. His radiator is done, and it seems to be a completely different shape from every other Subaru rad in the universe...other than the one-year-only 98 Forrester rad, which doesn't exist in this country. Core is 17x26, with end tanks and no rad cap. Everything else uses a 13 1/2 inch core, with top and bottom tanks, which probably works out to similar dimensions, but nobody in town stocks anything, so I can't do a physical comparison. Fan mounting could be an issue, as well. Some fabrication will be fine, but I'd like to find one with the right angle on the outlet, and the lower locating pins in the right spot. I check Koyo and Mishimoto (Is that right?) and they didn't even have race stuff that had the right dimensions.
Any of you cheerful Subie dudes got any deep knowledge?
Have you tried the dealer? IIRC Subaru parts are inventoried globally, they'll order damn near anything from anywhere on earth if you walk in with a part number.
Edit: Rockauto? NISSENS Part # 64112 looking up a USDM Forester, matches your description.
They are pretty much the same. Take a picture and post up. Willing to bet it's the same as one for a usdm 02 wrx. The turbo's have a remote reservoir and cap. Non turbos have a cap on the radiator. They all seem to fail at the seam on the plastic end cap visable in the plastic.

Appears to be 2inches to short.

I'll take that bet...They are all too short.

Does the radiator have a cap? Any chance you can post a picture?

In reply to johnp2:
Both wrong. Tanks are on the end of this one.
In reply to johnp2:
No cap. I'll try to get a picture up later.
Does the JDM WRX rad work?

Ebay may have something. When my JDM rad failed on my 1997 2.0l EJ20K I ended up getting a custom rad at GREAT expense. Later I found Koyo rads available from ebay retailers out of asia so try that.
Try EJ20k and EJ205 as search terms.
I finally found a rad for a 98 Forester, in Vancouver, through Worldpac. Ordered it, and other than the extra filler cap, and fittings for the trans cooler, its exactly right. Fits 98 Forester, and absolutely nothing else.
I'd still like to see a picture.
