Is there any place that will rebuild Subaru transmissions anymore? Specifically one that bolts to an EJ22 (96-97 Outback specifically). I have tried 3 used transmissions that were all bad after the original one wore out, and they are getting too old to find one with low enough miles to not be just as bad as the 3 I have already tried. But, I have tried calling a number of shops and they all say they don't touch manual transmission internals.
Even if it was close to $2k it would be cheaper than buying a different car so it might be worth doing, but it depends on if anyone actually does that kind of work anymore.
