It has been a few years since my last major project and the itch is growing stronger to start a new one.  As I bounce from idea to idea a question came up that I can't find the answer to.

The older Subarus had a transfer case where you could select 2WD or 4WD.  Some even had high/low.  When the transfer case is in 2WD is it FWD or RWD?  I am thinking FWD but I am not really sure.  Thanks.

That depends on the model.  Most of them were front wheel drive (it was just a FWD trans with a selectable output to the rear), but a few of them in vehicles like the RX Turbo and possibly the GL-10 had a center differential that you would lock and unlock, like an old Audi.

Dual range transmissions had the range selection on the input shaft of the transmission.

Thanks!  That was what I thought was the case.
