I was considering a 2014 Subaru WRX 5-door seeing that the 2015 Subaru WRX will not be available in wagon or hatchback form. I've read about firewall cracking and clutch pedal issues common to this generation. How prevalent is this issue and is there anything that can be done to proactively address it such as bracing or otherwise? Also, are there any other issues to be aware of?
Thanks in advance,
John
No clue, but if you can figure out where it is specifically, you can probably brace it. My ranger's clutch pedal was going completely through the firewall and i just bolted in some decent guage sheet metal brackets. With that in mind, I wouldn't expect it to be a tough fix if it did happen.

Grimspeed makes a firewall brace for 08+ Imprezas, if you are worried about the firewall issue.
I have the Grimmspeed master cylinder brace on my 09. Works great and you can feel the difference as it reduces firewall flex.
Thanks, I'll check out the Grimmspeed master cylinder brace. Any other issues or concerns to be aware of?
Thanks again,
John
Nothing beyond ringlands and bearings in cylinder #3.
I haven't noticed an issue on my 2011. 65k very hard miles (it's been an autocross/pro solo car since the day I got it).

No real issues with my 2013. Many autocross events in it's 10k miles since birth.
Are these issues known on GD chassis? My 06 clicks and pops when I'm using the clutch pedal

Just, like any other 06+ wrx be sure to flash it with a stage 1 tune before you even pull off the dealer lot because the stock tune in negligently terrible.
Have you considered an older wagon instead? Perhaps an STI swapped one? Or do you prefer the 5 door hatchback?
I ask because the wagon has much more room compared to the hatch. Also you can find a wagon for much cheaper.
yes, a larger wagon would be ideal however, I think the 5-door body style should be OK coming from a Mazda3 hatchback.

The firewall issues are supposed to be 08+, not GD's.
