What brand/model is that bigger seat? That looks much more svelte than the Graco convertible seat we have, and it looks like that might open up a bunch of more fun options than what I'm currently contemplating...

It's a Graco, but I couldn't tell you what model it is. It has a "100lb booster" and "65lb harnesses" and has a recline mechanism and height mechanism. Works well and Lexy likes it. The attachment straps to strap it to the LATCH stuff SUCK though. The tightening mechanism is lousy - our old Britax one was much easier to take out/put in. We got it when our daughter was 4. Before that we had a Britax one when she was 2-4, which was a bit bulkier and a tighter fit, but it still fit backwards. I may have had to go up one click on the seatback to fit that one, but I don't really recall, since it wasn't in my car very often.

So we drove the Crosstrek this weekend. It wasn't a bad car and the price is good for a fully loaded example even with a few accessories thrown on. I don't totally understand why folks think they are pitifully slow. While not a sports car, I thought it was ample for what the car is, what is accomplishes, and for the MPG it gets.

My only complaints is that it lacks the tech-heavy options that other cars offer that we've been shopping (new Escape titanium, GTi, etc), and also sicne it really is just an Impreza underneath, it can't really hide it's econo-roots with some interior finishes, etc.

I anticipate "cross" shopping a new Crosstrek and a used Forester XT-last of the hood scoopers. Would like to buy new, would also like a Forester XT, which is too much $ new. I'm seeing more and more of X-treks on the road. Interesting how the wheels and ride height mask the Impreza foundation somewhat.

I believe you can get a leftover 2013 (if you can find them) XT, and they're offering good finance rates on the leftover 13's. They haev pretty decent rates on the 14's too, even better than that offered on the Crosstrek (1.9 vs. the 2.9 for the Crosstrek), and even better rates on their certified used cars.
