Looking at the time stamp on that post and knowing when we saw Tim this morning makes me sleepy.
It was wet this morning... and some of us were wondering if Frank Herbert spent time in Indiana in the late spring before writing a certain book series...
I have many things to write. The whole SC crew just ate sushi and had a great celebratory dinner. And I love track walks.
The back of the pack can be a frustrating place to be. But, it can also be a magical place to be, because you'll interact first hand with the stories of people overcoming adversity...
like the DadBod HotRod Corolla team who sheared off and axle on launching for their recon lap this afternoon. How the Toyota PE team, who could have been gone 30-45 minutes earlier we're still there, dropped everything... pulled out their packed tools, and climbed under, around and about the Corolla (which beyond being a 25+ year old model made by their company... they had no direct affiliation with) and knocked out the various bits of broken axle, popped a new one in, and helped make sure things were buttoned up.
It was an electric feeling when the car came down off the jack stands with the driver suited, helmeted and belted in... and then off to the pits. Brock had made the comment to the OneLap timing crew, when asked if they should wait along with the track's flagging staff: "I paid for 8hours of flagging... the Corolla has until 3:30 to complete their timed laps."
Everyone who was left in the paddock all hurried off to cheer the Corolla on, imploring them to take it easy on the launch...
OneLap of America isn't a simple thing. Like the humanity that breathes life into it, It's not any one thing... it becomes bigger than the sum of its parts. It's danger, and risk. It's strugggle, and endurance. It's smart decisions, and perseverance. It's planning, and spending. But, mostly, it's people.
I'm glad to have been amongst them again to remember that, and I hope many of you will get your own chance... however that might present itself (spectator, media person, transit driver, competition driver, team leader, etc.)... eventually.
The very nice girl at McDonalds looked at us like we're mutants when we ordered 4 large coffees for the two of us. This is how we live now.
I am picturing the exact kind of sleep deprived mindset that led to that. "Now take a picture of me... taking a picture of the flower!"
Nobody: "Shouldn't we be walking the course?"
I can't be the only one....
Mazda2 Spotters guide: Most are automatics but manuals are out there. If the car has factory alloys it then has factory cruise control. If hub caps then no factory cruise. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4902646643123200/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A631e9eaa-92a7-4652-822a-31906a46faa4
For Rio, it has to be the rarer Rio SX for the manual trans version to include cruise control and bluetooth capability to the factory radio.

In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
Interesting...The Rio right behind the current (and likely) #1 car. The Mazda2 right behind the current (and likely) #2 car.
An interesting juxtaposition of Pro effort and Amateur effort but it is still just one game, all the same effort!

This is where the cup holder skill of the Fit proves superior for One Lap.
The dash cupholders on the Fit would be a game changer. I'm kind of in love with the Rio right now, but the Fit does have it's positives.
Also, over 1 g in a Mazda2 in both directions is quite a thing.
Results from the skidpad should mean that coming to a Kia ad soon: More road holding than a Ferrari 812!
If Hyundai is serious about N...with some motorsports magazine connections, 4 Ns put into the hands of One Lap veterans (SCup'ers)
Beat up on some "bigger" makes!

answer: "This guy"
question: "Who knew used Kia hatchbacks could collect Motorsports awards"?
This has been good fun to follow along. Congrats.

If they are serious about the N brand they need to allow me to have an i20N. I've proven myself.
