Yay or nay?

Specifically boost.

More specifically, this: http://www.sunpro.com/product_detail.php?pid=16373

Is there any particular reason that I should spend twice as much on some other gauge?

Cheaper on Amazon.. been meaning to get one. Looks a lot better than my Harbor Freight boost gauge too..

Boost/Vacuum gauges are not rocket science. However, I vote 'nay' on nylon tubing to run one. But whatever gauge you like, upgrade to good rubber or silicone hose.

good looking basic gage... who needs all the fancy crap?

I bought a 2 5/8 in tach for my FV. We even put rubber padding (it was plumming hose connector speciffically) in between the gauge and the dash to prevent the vibrations messing up the tach. 12 minutes into my first session I glance down to see my RPM's and the needle is bouncing accross the RPM range like it's a ping pong ball. From that experience, I don't reccomend them. You can never go wrong with a AutoMeter gauge. I have a full dash of AutoMeter's in my other FV and I've never had a problem with them.

had the 3" tach in my corolla - it was great

---EDIT---

CP2012 - adjustable shift light (led in face or external light port in back), stepper mototr driven - no needle bounce, Installed in about 30 min with the supplied instructions, and best of all, found it on the shelf at the store - no internets or shipping involved. Id buy another any day.

Have an electric speedo, works great, calibrate to get speed, very accurate, inexpensive, don't like the chrome bezel though...

I have a 5" SunPro in my race car... needle bounces all over in huge swings due to vibration. The shift light calibration needs to be redone every time you power up or it ends up being off by a few hundred RPM.

On the plus side - its cheap and easy to see. On the minus... what you see is a very bad approximation of the current RPM.

Nay.

I had a smaller sunpro tach in my classic race mini. never an issue with vibrations.

I have VDO's in the Jensenator, surprisingly affordable. They do say 'Made in India' on them though...
