Album with picturesWell I have a Jacobsen Utility vehicle that I bought because it has tons of potential. It has a Ford 4cyl motor with a T4 transmission and Dana 44 rear end. Stock it did 20mph due to a transfer case that drops the rpm in half as well as a 5.8/1 rear end gearset in the Dana44 and 20" tires.
So I've put 29" jeep wheels/tires on the rear (5 on 4.5 ) and am very happy with the rear end.
The front end is a disaster, the calipers, lines and springs/shocks are shot, OEM parts for the front end are insanely expensive. So I want to swap the spindles/rotor/caliper out of an automobile for parts interchangeability.
I bought a set of Cherokee 2wd loaded spindles and the below pictures show the potential issues.
Can anyone reccomend a different set of spindles with closer mount points between the ball joints? If I use the Cherokee spindles it forces the lower control arm down quite a bit (is that an issue)....I'll have to cut the lower spring perch and reweld one in to make it parallel again. Is this OK?
Fabing new control arms doesn't seem to be a real option based on the position within the wheel well and upper spring mount is also an engine mount point.
OEM spindle has about 4.5 inches between ball joint mounting surfaces. Jeep Cherokee spindle has about 9 inches between ball joint mounting surfaces (will have to flip one of the tapers to fit the upper ball joint.
Any thoughts on what the best option is are greatly appreciated. I've attached pics below of the suspension and one of the toy.
