I just replaced the driver side door on my GMC and I need to put the correct VIN sticker on it, because DOT looks at it to confirm the VIN and GVRW.
Can you remover the sticker or do the stickers fall apart or say VOID when you pull them off? Can I order a new one? I just need to get it taken care of ASAP.
Do what body shops do: Remove the sticker and paint over what's left over...
What year GMC is it? If it's a late model truck I'm wondering if that is the official VIN tag, or if they just put a secondary VIN sticker on each body panel (I know some brands do that.) Typically the official VIN tag is riveted to the top of the dashboard where it's visible through the windshield.
Might be what you are needing?

It’s a 2008. The official VIN is in the corner of the dashboard. I just want to know if the sticker will fall apart on purpose or something. I have a heat gun to help remove it.

I’m not sure, looks like I have to go through a body shop to get one through that site.
Ave made a Teflon warranty sticker remover.
Take a high-res pic & print it out on a plastic-based adhesive-backed stock, then laminate over it? Cut the label & surrounding steel out of the old door & weld it into the new one???
Check with a dealer for a reprint. When I crashed the Buick the dealer got a replacement sticker for under the hood with the correct vin on it. The sticker has the correct VIN info and says it’s a replacement sticker.
