I bought a little pocket bike I wanna tweak. I'm wondering if I can use a synch to tell if I've increased cfm through the carb or not. Also, will a small carb even register enough pull for a regular synchrometer?

I think you could do that, test at wide open throttle, assuming the airflow at WOT is on the scale of the synchrometer. I'm curious enough that I might do the math later.

EDIT: Ideally, at 10,000 RPM, a 50cc 2 stoke engine would move 30,000 liters of air per hour, which works out to 38.26 kg/hr assuming room temp air at sea level, in reality it's probably quite a bit lower than that, so probably within the 0-30 kg/hr scale on the tool but towards the top end where you wont be able to get a precise reading, so I'm going to say no.

Me too. Please share if you do

That said (see edit above), I wonder if you might be able to make something workable out of a junkyard hot wire MAF from a small crapcan. If you're just looking for qualitative measurement that shouldn't be too hard to rig up, you'll probably want to do it in a climate controlled room (mind the CO!) or also be measuring the intake air temperature for temperature compensation.

Probably easier to quantify power gains through fuel flow.

Eh. Just a thought. I plan on usin this engine as an experiment anyways. If I ruin it I'll swap to a two stroke.
