I've got a T5 here, and I'm trying to figure out if it's a Ford or Chevy part. Looking at the pattern where it bolts to the bellhousing, I've got an 8" bolt spacing on the top two and 6.25" on the lower two. Anyone know?

Tremec vendors usually have a feature that will allow you to determine ratios and such from the tag number. If it has a tag, it will be on the tailshaft housing area. Jeep also used the T-5.
Don't have access to one right now to go measure, sorry.

What is the input shaft spline and diameter? Where is the shifter located on the tailshaft?

Typically, GM is 20+ spline count input shaft deals, where Ford runs 10. The S10 version, the shifter is straight up but much farther forward then Mustang counterparts. I can't remember if the Camaro version shifter is rotated like the trans or not.

I've been informed by the guy who sourced the trans that it's a Ford World Class. 10 spline, by the way.

Careful. The 5.0 was a 26-spline most of the years, and the 2.3 was the 10-spline lifetime motor. If it's a Turbo Coupe or SVO case (I dunno if SVO's ever had WC's though) it could be OK (though have a huge 1st gear), but if it's a stock 4-Cyl or V6 trans it's pretty much junk...

10 spline = ford v8. At least that is what is in my mgb. It came from an 88 mustang gt.

Summit lists over 40 clutches for a 26-spline 5.0 Mustang, and I remember my old 85 had that (though it was a goober car that started life as a 4-banger).

Point stands on the 10-spline being used on way more than the V8's though, it could be a weaksauce trans.

Trust me, there's a very good chance this thing is getting tossed away tomorrow and replaced with a t56. It's the main reason the Targa Miata wasn't at the Mitty, and it is continuing to be a pain in my patootie. It SHOULD be a strong one, it's a brand new unit intended for a v8 Miata.
