I want to mount my Nexus 7 tablet to my windshield or dashboard in such a way that the mount and/or tablet can't fall off during rallycross runs.
I've looked through most of the mounts on Amazon and they seem to only have spring loaded "fingers". I can see the tablet working its way out of these mounts pretty easily.
Does anyone know of an off-the-shelf mount with a fixed method of retaining the tablet so it can't come off on its own? I don't mind having to use tools to remove and install it.
if you are running it for gauges and that type of stuff you could put it in a case and secure it with a high grade velcro... most of those programs have a HUD setting so you could get the special tint and go HUD...
i've got an old cell phone that i'll be using for my speedo on the truck that i'll do that with... another phone will be used for my tach connected with my MS... cheaper then real gauges :-/...
Look at RAM mounts, they are a bit sturdier.
I'll second the hook/loop solution though.
Sorry, couldn't resist....
I've mounted cell phones with the mounts that use a big suction cup and they've only come off a couple of times due to seriously hard offroad hits, If the tablet weighs about the same it should be fine with that kind of mount on a track.
Find a half decent case, then screw case to dash. Insert tablet into case.

Good idea. I will look around for a hard case and give this a try.

I had not seen RAM's products before. They look perfect; they even have a steel mount that locks with a key. It's listed as being suitable for "high vibration" environments.
Thanks for the tips!
