Looking for an in town runabout until the Dragon is completed.
Looking for hatchback on marketplace. This one popped up. 2004 mini, manual.
Says new clutch, very high miles 17k.
I guess my H stock scca autocross dream from 20 years ago hasn't died.
Cheers.
Check the build date on it. MINI changed from the Midlands gearbox to a Getrag unit in July 2004. The Midlands box is substantially weaker if you're inclined to abuse it. Otherwise, just make sure there are no electrical issues, which are made less likely by the fact that it's a slicktop.
These are really fun cars despite not being powerful. I wish other manufacturers that made low power vehicles would take notice (even just the powertrain part).
I have gone down that rabbit hole on marketplace. Mini's seem to be a good deal for a small hatch that has performance potential.
Someone on here was talking about selling theirs for $1500. Ahh here it is bottom of page one on the giant step into a mini thread:
https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/giant-step-into-mini-world/272090/page1/
it's in MA but maybe a road trip is in order.

Thanks everyone, but the funny thing about looking at cars, the universe knows.
A 2004 Acura RSX-S just fell into my lap. I can not pass that up.
Keep an ey out for my build thread starting soon, lol.
In reply to EricM :
That's one of the most GRM endings to thread I've ever seen.

Also came with a set of extra wheels.

That looks to be in pretty nice shape. I love my MINI. but an RSX in similar shape would be the less aggravating vehicle to own.
We at Onramptx.org just had a mini donated to us recently. A 2006 with 170k miles. Reading more and more about the total pain to replace parts made it a no for me. But it was a ton of fun to drive and I thought about it really really hard. I was dreaming of parking this next to my na Miata in the garage

Every time I think "that would be a fun car" I'm reminded they are BMWs with tighter packaging but similar reliability.
Yeah, the non S R53 sometimes tempts because they are a riot to drive, then I sober up.

Congrats fellow RSX owner! Looks nice and clean, I haven't seen another nice one around in awhile. Not particularly fast anymore, but its a blast to rip thru a couple of gears!
