You know that RX means it has a rotary, right? If that doesn't talk you out of it, you are incurable.
I love the car, but wouldn't bother in CA unless you want to flip it. I wouldn't go through all that trouble trying to make it legal when it would be so much easier to just get a car two years older. Also make sure it is on non-op, or the registration could cost more then the car. Cars like these are one of the reasons why I hate California. On the other hand, emissions cars in CA can be bought for cheap because few people are willing to deal with them.

I figured that was the whole point of these "talk me out of..." threads. Just a funny way of saying "convince me to buy this car that I'm on the fence with".

Having maneuvered my Fiero through the engine change recertification process for my 3.4 DOHC V6 swap, I'm pretty familiar with it and shall not be afeareded. I could always swap in a complete 13B powertrain if the 12A is hopeless in its current state.
Not sure what you mean about it being "so much easier to just get a car two years older". I can't find a single RX3 of any year or body style for sale anywhere in the United States, let alone Southern California. Do you know of one?
And I would love to build a 13b for that beast.
