I know we're enablers. So "talk me out of this," is just another way of saying "tell me why I should buy this." Its a cheap "Answer."

If that were for sale near me the seller would ask $3,000 at least. These kinds of sales never seem to pop up.
I guess that would be a round about way of saying you should pick that up.
I bought a '92 last December for $1000 and my only regret is that it isn't a 94-97. You really should do it.
If that was anywhere near me, the answer would be "because I'm on the phone with the guy right now".
But that's on the wrong side of the country, so you're safe.
Ooh. I have another Miata I could take a seat out of to get it home... :) Hey, you live right near me, you know.

You weren't kidding that you were lurking for a while were you!
To the original topic...
I will bet someone from this board has already bought it if the OP hasn't
Miatas are so blase any more. I mean they have been done to death. I think you should find something interesting and different. Or buy it for parts to build something interesting and different.
Just kidding. If that was local, it would be three or four times that much for half the car. For that cheap, I would even buy it...for my daughter.
No really, she needs a car for college next year.

haha, nope. I've been reading GRM for about 2-3 years atleast.
Did you decide, Appleseed? Has it sold yet? Let me know if you want to borrow that driver seat for the weekend :)
why did you take the time to ask THIS board that question? the time you spent typing it is valuable time you could have spent on the phone with the seller asking "where do I sign?"
in layman's terms: DO IT!
Didn't you read the ad? It said if you don't buy it, he's taking it to the dump. You're not going to let him do that, are you?

The street I live on is a main road just before a large auto recycler. In the morning it is like a parade of junk cars on trailers. The other day I was out front waiting for the bus with the kids. A Flat bed went by with a red Miata that sported a factory hardtop. It had another car in tow, so it was obviously heading to the recycler. As soon as the kids were away, I scooted to the yard in anticipation of scoring a factory hard top. I turned into the place with thoughts of reselling the top and making a quick buck, just in time to see a loader stack another car on top of the Miata crushing the roof. It was like watching your dog get run over. Yard guy said something in broken English about a convertible with an automatic tranny that didn't even have a roof that went down. When I told my buddy that owned the yard what they were worth, he lost in on the Brazilian guy driving the loader. Wonder what happened to that guy? Haven't seen him since.
