Great stuff. I could really feel the passion in the racers, sitting on my couch watching the movie. It just goes to show, motorsport really isn't about big money and big sponsors. Anyone with the determination to make it happen, can. It also highlights the camraderie found in racing circles that you just don't see in a lot of other places. The moment that got me, and made me believe in this whole adventure was watching Keith choked up at the beginning of the film- clearly showing his passion for the show. I'll be watching this again, i'm sure. A lot. Brandon and Zach made for some KILLER comedy too.
Thanks!
Adam called me "man sad" in that scene.

Like everyone else, our shipping guys don't work for free. It even costs money to print an invoice - more than you might expect. And there are more supplies involved in a typical package than a free cardboard box - at least, if you want a high certainty that the part will arrive. Unlike Amazon, most of our parts are not nicely pre-packaged in boxes but are awkwardly shaped and tend to be dense with shart edges so you can't just hump them in a box. We end up averaging these costs out a bit, so while a shift boot might only take a couple of minutes to pull, pack, label and ship other parts might take far longer.
Shart edges, eh?
you can't hump them in a box either.

Don't knock humping shart edges in a box until you've tried it.
Ordered mine yesterday, then found the thread here. Adam's a good guy - I bought some wheels from him that I used on my last two Miatas.

I need to order this because it's on my bucket list
i did order the video and got it this week. last night i watched it and oh ! MY GOD! I love the sound of that v-8 under the hood of the miata..that sounded so very fine and so totaly alsome. anyway, i really thought that the video was cool though with the behind the scenes with interviewing the drivers and codrivers each day also. The racing footage was cool though along with the short clip of talking about the hero cams and lots of head shots of people in helmets and with them....ehehhehe
I alsohave to say that when i ordered over the phone to flyin' miata i think it was DJ that I talked to and she was very cool to talk to and even had to call back a few minutes later to ask about something stupid i did when i ordered.
so i have to ask when are you guys going back to the rock?
You definitely want the sound turned up for the racing scenes.
I don't know when we'll get back. It's a high-effort thing to do. Maybe in a couple of years, but we certainly won't be there when things kick off on Saturday for the 2012 running.
anyway, thanks for signing the cover to both of the drivers keith.
Just wondering, any possibility of purchasing a digital download? I'm gonna buy it either way but a download would be WAY easier and quicker for me. Might help you get more international buyers as well
Yes, we will have it up on iTunes and Amazon eventually in HD. That's not an instant thing, especially for small independent producers. It doesn't help that Adam's been on location in Greenland since the premiere! Rough estimate on the digital version is 6-8 weeks from now.
I just watched this last night with my wife and son, and we loved it. We thought it was very well done and interesting.
It is great to see "car guys"' (and gals) that are intelligent, articulate, and friendly.
I hope one day to participate in an epic car event like Targa Newfoundland.
Keith and Brandon sent an autographed copy for my son for his 16th. We watched it recently, and loved every second of it -- especially since we've been to NFLD as a family.
I thought Will was going to be "man sad" when you DNF'd the stage . . . he thinks every competitor should get a "mulligan" or "do over" for one stage of your choice if the car can be repaired in a reasonable amount of time. Seems legit to me.
Thanks for the kind words, guys! Zoo, I had the car fixed about 10 minutes after we got it back to the work area. Sigh.
Obviously, the 6-8 week estimate for iTunes availability was way off. Adam took the opportunity to start tweaking the production - some work on sound levels and a new score, primarily. Since the composer is donating his time, it's been an evenings and weekends deal but it almost done. I'll let everyone know when it's done.
As you can tell, from a filmmaker's point of view, undertakings like this are like project cars to us. They're never really DONE.
