Let’s talk about the Death Star a little bit. Not the first Death Star, the one that destroyed Alderaan and was about to blow up the Rebel Base on Yavin 4 when it was wiped out. Rather, let’s discuss the second Death Star. That’s the one that was hovering over the moon of Endor—home to those annoyingly marketable Ewoks—when Lando …

Can't anything be exciting with the right driver
Since this article originally came out, power has also gotten absurdly easier to do, and now more than ever the way a car goes about its business is more compelling than how fast it goes.
Have y'all seen the PlaidEssey?
And that's I can say about how hypocritical the rules are...

I drove the Tail of the Dragon in a rental Chrysler Town and Country minivan back in around 2016 or so. I had a full load of people and luggage and We (or at least I) had a blast. On the return trip I had to keep backing off as I kept overtaking other cars.
20+ years ago and I still remember reading this article for the first time and loving it.
Does GRM have an article hall of fame, and if so where does this one stack up?
I took my family of 5 to the Black Hills when the kids where young in a Ford Windstar. Iron Mountain Road was fun and even though I drove very leisurely, everybody got car sick.
This thing is roaming my little city, I bet it could be fun.
I think a lot more about 'fun' than 'fast' in cars these days. The writing in on the wall with EVs. They will be the kings of speed. Especially in the stop light gran prix. However they lack any sense of theatre like the minivan. I'm more interested in cars that will make me feel something. I know my fastest ICE cars are going to be beat off a stop light by a model 3 unless I'm sitting there banging off the rev limiter in launch control. Fast is going to be cheap. Choose fun. Choose theatre.
