Oh no. All I have to do is pick it up.
Just what I needed.

My thoughts exactly. My shop, a BMW specialist, won't touch them. Hardware replacement and maintenance maybe, but only if the car looks to be well kept. But most are rodents because nobody can afford to fix them or find somebody willing to work on them.
This reminds me of dead Jag XJ12 stories.
Wise men drive them until something (even something that can look fairly trivial) fails and then abandons them at the road side.
Fools decide to fix them and wind up with 3 -4 times as much into an engine rebuild as they could turn around and sell the whole car with rebuilt engine for.
Only the Bimmer is even worse, mostly due to parts cost and potential for complex electrical issues.

There was an Ultima GTR at the SSC USCC one year that had a BMW V12 with two SDS engime management systems on it.
There is a BMW L7 in the local Pick-N-Pull, and I spent some time poring over it. The stitched leather dash was really impressive. The general finish level inside was really nice. I don't think the 750il is quite as nice inside, but dang was it neat/sad to see in the junkyard.
for all the same reason's that i have no interest in audi's or jags, I SHOULDn't want one of these....
but i still do.

Basically a McLaren F1 mule.
I see these cars quite often in CL. They are basicly selling for scrap value (even when running). If you got that car cheep enough I would do the minumum to get it running and flip it. Then take $$$$ and go get a 540I Sport
Why not just strip the big 12 of all the electronic crap on it, squirt it, and adapt a transmission of your choice as described above. The adapter plate between the bell housing and the manual trans shouldn't cost too much to have made up.

FTFY.

This sounds like the best idea...oh and turbos
My gut tells me you should probably run...I watched my buddy do a starter on his 92 325i the other day. What a nightmare! What were the Germans thinking?! A V12 is going to be SO much worse than a 3 series, I'm sure. On the other hand, I'd love to see this thing all hot-rodded up! Hope you can get it for $500 or less!
Yank the twelve-banger.
Build two exhaust manifolds, complete with GT2259s.
Set up an aftermarket injection system
Install it in a 94-99 Mustang.
If you pay anything close to its actual value, you are paying 10 times too much IMO.
If you have emissions in your area, be prepared to replace cats every 60k or so... to the tune of $1400 each. Radiators pretty consistently leak at the tank seal, and there are no real aftermarket options that don't suck. Plan on dropping $400 for a new one from 1-800 Radiator.
Parts are made from unobtanium, so if you have a valve cover leak, an oil pan leak, a water pump go, or need an injector or something, plan on opening the really big wallet. Scratch that... the JUMBO wallet.
The other possibility is to just drive it until you have one of those problems and then just drop in a Viper V10.

Why does this make me want one more?
