ok gotcha... when you said "roofline", i was thinking of a wrinkle up above the rear window. this makes more sense. This looks like a minor tap from the the right corner.
I've seen a bunch more that were more directly from behind... and I guess under the same scenario a shop has pulled the lights/bumper.cover to evaluate. In one case, it was clear the mount for the absorption bar under the cover had been forced into the trunk.
You're definitely building up an interesting fleet of cheap, big, non-descript sedans ;). although, I realize the business probably favors that setup.
In other Nondescript sedans, here is a really loaded '05 Avalon with 86k miles that drove over a rock. The downpipe tube from one side is "ovaled" and the oil pan is dented. There was fluid underneath. I swear it seemed more like trans fluid than oil.
$2550 or more like $3,100 with fees will get you this which was valued at $8,226 in good shape. The State Farm estimate says it will take $6,439 to fix it right. I am sure that includes straightening the lower support bar which likely requires an engine pull to be done right (but I would probably leave that alone.) Engine sounded fine.
Notice that this has the optional reclining rear seats!

wanna go show the toyota pe's team how slow they're driving their '13 avalon at OLoA?
I had bid the Avalon up to what would be about $2k. Now it can be bought for $3k. It does seem like a good deal still but have not driven it. Now way to really know what the oil or trans issues are until the money is spent. ????
Reclining Comfort!

This is truth. That's possibly a fairly big risk if it's the transmission that's cracked?
Roadkill apparently has proven the collector isn't something to be particularly worried about.
Hrm
Progressive's opinion is that the Avalon has over $6k in damage. Add to that the $3k purchase and you have $9k into a vehicle with a $9k value. If it's just a gasket or a dose of JB Weld then it's a big win but those are the risks.

True. If we want to take it, or something like it, then we should probably consider a different expense split from what we've discussed previously. which I'm open to
and, as reference...
I was 45pts, and 20sec back (in overal track time) from the TPE team's Avalon in Mid-Priced with my TL last year

And...seconds ago, I got an email from IAA saying that the Avalon has SOLD. Oh well, 500 more cars next week.
