A buddy reminded my that Kennedy makes an adapter to bolt the D16A6 to the 901 box.

I can't help but think that 300+ HP/torks in a 200# engine would be very "right" in a 914.

adapters from Kennedy engineering...some of them would be quite fun.

Two general 914 related questions.

1) How much would a replacement transmission cost on a 914? Same as a 911?

2) Is the 2.0L preferable to the 1.8L for any reasons beyond the increased displacement?

Used transmissions are pretty cheap, but rebuilds can be pricey. The First-Reverse slider is one of the expensive wear parts. A 915 swap CAN be carried out, but the cost benefit ratio is low unless you are using a higher powered engine.

Personally, I prefer a 1.8 as its slightly revvier than a 2.0. The injection system on the 1.8 is bespoke, however, and some parts can be difficult to source.

Be prepared to drive a VW, but pay P-car prices.

Yeah, I heard rumours about the injection system parts getting pricey on these...

I'm tempted to have a look at this one anyway to see how good it is. I doubt that I'd stick a V8 in one but putting an N/A 13B in one has a certain appeal...

I understand the 2.0 liter cars had a better-flowing head. Which is really just another way of saying the 1.8s and 1.7s flowed even worse. But nonetheless, the 2.0 heads were supposed to be better, and also becoming somewhat difficult (read expensive) to source. But eBay might alleviate that last issue.

They should take pretty much any sort of hopped up VW Type engine, right? Probably means Megasquirting it, though...
