Oh, jeez, I can't afford it, let alone no room for two kids car seats.

I had visions of buying it and then finding out the engine subframe is rusted through or the transaxle needs a rebuild.

I just searched for Panteras on a search engine on a whim and found it.

Watch out for models without the uprated cooling systems, they are notorious for overheating. And the rear suspension's attachment points: if there is any rust, be real weary, also check for bubbling of the paint over said suspension attachment points. You don't want a Pantera that needs rust work. That is a hell of a price though....if it's not a scam. If someone buys it, let us know.

my dad has wanted one since they came out in the 70's. We wana swap a modern FI ford or LSA into one. so im kinda looking for a basket-case. for this price you usually just get a pile of parts, another pantera on CL

his current ride is a 2009 CTS-V with 680hp at the wheels! but he's leaning towards a smaller high revving engine for the pantera. Hi-Po 4V Ti-VCT V8 engine (new ford boss 302)

i got my fingers crossed...

I thought that the Panteras were Windsor motored, but that says C (Cleveland).

And I second the idea of a S/C 4.6 modular.

Something looks a little odd about the proportions and I notice the word "kit" slotted in there. Are you sure it's an actual Pantera?

I had a yellow '72. They had Cleveland's.I was way too young at the time, still wish that I could've kept it and restored it.

There used to be a Vendor with 4.6 swap kits, or a couple of ones that were converted.

Careful-this car has turned up on various Texas craigslist ads (Austin, S.A.,Killeen) . Ask very specific questions about the title; what state, whose name etc.

are you saying that have seen this car on CL before? do you know any history? I do expect a clear texas title for $15k.

As to the suspected kit car provenance:

"Pantera 1972 Ford 351C Ford V-8 engine. Group V kit ,10" rear / 8" front (tires). Needs paint. red/black int."

Punctuation DOES matter. Move comma over one word and it tells you that the car has had a "Group V" kit installed at some point.

"...Kit includes: Group V air dam, running boards, rear roof spoiler, and 4 fender flares. $1295.00..."

Panteras can be rust buckets. Many show the results of poor previous rust repairs.

If the shell is good and it is all there, then this could be a good car. However, by the time you go through the whole thing and repaint it, I bet you spend another 20-25k. If the shell needs a major rustoration, you are going to drop 60k into the thing.

All Panterras had Aussie sourced 351 Clevelands, the autos were also Aussie FMXs, however the manuals were Getrags.

The engines were shipped to Italy and gone through to make a healthy 400hp.

That about does my complete knowledge on these cars
