That looks like a diamond compared to my crapcan racecar and my racecar cant do 0-60 in 2.9 sec.
I'd buy it if there was any way to make a 10 hour run to mid Ohio in it trailering the racecar (and someone was willing to give me a loan for 95% of the purchase price).

Just what I needed, a bulletproof goofy looking truck. Most of the time, when I am driving a truck, I think "hey, this would be way better if only it were bulletproof"
Also, I am not buying that it is.
Remember folks, stainless steel is weaker than carbon steel by a lot, depending on alloy and heat treat and such.
The designers of the Pontiac Aztec are relieved this morning by the fact that they are no longer responsible for the ugliest vehicle ever made.

It looks like Playstation 1 graphics and it makes me irrationally angry.
In reply to NickD :
"But if you think you hate it now wait til you drive it!"
I wonder what the radar cross-section looks like?
I put down a deposit on the triple motor. I do not love it, but I also don't hate it. I think they are trying to change the rules of the truck game. If they win, everything else will look like junk in a couple years. If they lose, it'll be worth a fortune as "art".
The specs are insane. Eliminating gas removes the biggest issue with trucks. This thing looks like it is from a 80s sci-fi future because it was built for the future.
Also, they aren't going to start building them until 2021 and 22 (for the triple motor), so they have time to tweak the design... and my deposit is fully refundable.
So, no interior room, and I can't tell if that is a bed with a really awkward liftover height, or a hatchback with a really awkwardly designed cargo space.

Isn't Tesla's designer the ex Pontiac designer? Eg he may actually have designed the Aztek!
If you look past the styling.. it's basically an electric honda ridgeline..
I can't stomach over $70k for a vehicle. So.. I'm gonna keep buying my $10-20k cars and driving them for 12-15 years.. I can buy a $15K honda ridgline with <100K miles(barely) and drive it until 200K miles and still save myself I dunno.. $40K dollars over that thing if I'm generous with savings from fuel and maint..

So I'm the target audience for the truck.
Currently I own an i3, a minivan and a truck. The i3 is great around town but we need more space for family trips and doing truck stuff.
I'd love to go all EV, because the i3 is fun as heck. The Model 3 is even more fun, but it's too much money for not enough functionality. The Model X would be nice but I'm not that rich.
A truck that size, that can tow that amount, for $40k, can replace my truck and i3. Perfect.
The fact that it looks insane? A plus for me; I don't like truck looks (or truck culture or how they drive).
I'm in.
They must really be hurting for money if that's all they could come up with to take preorders on.
Also is that a marble dashboard?
I'm waiting on the electric f150.
But, 500+ mile range and big towing capacity basically does it. I know GRM'ers will be like, "if it can't tow 10k lbs for 1000 miles without charging for under $25k, then I don't want it"
Looks like it was stolen from the prop shed on the set of "Robocop 7". Specs are decent, though.
$40k entry price. That's high end ranger territory, but under what Rivian was estimating for theirs.. Interesting. I don't hate the design, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I'm excited to see production come out and actual towing to range figures.
Not that I can afford it, especially house shopping, but the idea of my next truck or the truck after next being electric really does interest me. If I can take an empty trailer 100 miles away and return home with a full trailer on a single charge, it would satisfy 90% of my use requirements.
Really really curious how it would do off-road though.
Hopefully everyone goes and gets the electric F150, so I can afford a Raptor
Yikes. The speculative renders were soooooo much better. It does indeed look like a joke. Jokes on us though because the Tesla tifosi will buy all they can make (at least for the first couple years). Since the Model X there haven't been any Teslas that made me think "Wow I would love to have that". I think they are riding the fan wave like Apple does, but there are going to be a lot more options in the coming years. Need to step it up, and I don't think this is the answer.
This is the truck of the future that I was promised in sixth grade.
I'm pretty sure there was an old BattleZone arcade game in the design studio during the process

That would actually be a brilliant move. No wonder this thing is growing on me.
