Test drove a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland Turbo Diesel

We had one in for a vsi the other day. For now I'll just save up for a 4x4 liberty diesel, because money lol

Rumor is strong that the Wrangler unlimited will have this motor soon.

The only "good" news is that it will be far out of my price range.

I'm going to get a used 4x4 liberty diesel when I get my next promotion. Or a 335i. Probably the jeep. Maybe.

I believe that the 3.0L diesel has been dropped from the 2015s, I can't imagine why, the 2014s should hold their value well.

Duke, that is a Cherokee, not a Grand Cherokee.

The ecodiesel rams can tow 9200lbs, and get close to 30usmpg on the highway.

I average 14.5L/100kms in my 2004 gmc 1500. My buddy with an ecodiesel is getting 10L/100km, and his is all city driving

OK, my mistake. I googled "2015 Grand Cherokee" and that popped up. The regular Cherokees are the ones I berking hate. I can't believe that front fascia got greenlighted. I can't see one without thinking of the Tokio Kid:

Such a vehicle would be trouble for me, but checks many boxes for the next daily (will baby, tows more the 6,000, 30mpg highway, can toss a sea kayak on the roof, can fit a table in the back with seats declined).

Nevermind, found the Diesel now, it's not available in the "Altitude" trim, which is a shame as the body matched bumpers and lack of metallic colored plastic trim pieces is nice and clean looking

I don't have an issue with the premium placed on the oil burner powertrain. I do have an issue with purchased a $46,000 truck and having to remove trim, order paint from paintscratch.com, paint and reassemble to have it look the way I'd like when there's a version available for $10,000 less that I find aesthetically pleasing. Maybe it's me being a shiny happy Bob Costas, or maybe it's the reason that when I take 895 home I see roughly 14,000 unsold Jeeps at Amports.

Agreed with the above, the regular Cherokee is hideous, the Grand Cherokee is a very nice-looking SUV. I'd consider one for SWMBO's next vehicle, but she insists on 3-row seating. I doubt I'd pay the extra for the diesel, though. That's a common car-guy fetish that I don't share.

We picked up our used '14 Grand Cherokee in the fall. Limited, 3.6 Pentastar V6 with the 8 speed auto. When the summer gas is here, I average 21-22 mpg. Winter gas it's closer to 18-19 mpg. I like it a lot and the AWD system is quite impressive.

It's not that i like it just because it's a diesel, but rather what it offers that the gas motors don't. That being huge amounts more power in day to day use and much better gas mileage.

If i was in the market to drop $50k on an SUV, i'd spring the extra $5k for the exact motor i like.
