Anyone planning on attending Texas Mile this wkend? Sad to say but since it's moved to my home town I haven't been, usually due to work or wind screwing up the event. Plan on going Saturday with the wife. Curious if anyone has been recently. I used to go when it was in Barclair, way before speed channel did their special and it "blew up". Last I heard it was more closed course. When I used to go it was cheap $10 to get in, no spectator area, no  closed access to cars and paddock. Pretty much free range, I used to take my dirt bike and literally ride it up to start line and watch cars launch. Always awesome to see all the bad a$$ rides but if I have to watch from hundred of feet away doesn't seem worth it.

They closed the one down here in Florida due to rules on public land use.  Isn’t Victoria a municipal airport?

Yea it's a pretty big airport, originally air corps base from WW2. When it was in Berclair it was a small one strip airport. Believe Air Force or coast guard started to not like them using it and either wanted to charge a lot, or just kicked them out. Went to Beeville for couple events but believe strip there was too bumpy to be safe. Biggest down side down here is we get 10-20 gulf winds, seen a 57 chevy literally get pushed off track at bout 150. Guys that run bikes 150+ have some groins!
