The first show was like a pre-school primer, spoon feeding the masses the concept of Top Gear.

The second was a bit contrived and strained. More because of the writers than the actors.

The third episode was MUCH better. The actors were starting to build a rapore, the writers started to get a clue, the camera/production crew are producing a better looking product, everything is starting to come together.

I have high hopes for the future. Might they replace one of the characters? Perhaps, but maybe the characters will just hit their stride. A larger viewer base will bring in more advertisers/more money, so better writers and bigger more expensive adventures.

It improved a hell of a lot. That's all you can ask for, really. Imagine how much you guys would be whining and bitching if the show didn't improve from the second to the third episode.

I still didn't see anything resembling a wrench. I'm sure the good stuff sat off camera.

Perhaps, but Rutledge does own and work on old cars. He's probably capable of diagnosing and fixing stuff like that.

I'll admit though, that it could have been faked. After all, TG is an entertainment franchise, and they have a long tradition of not letting the facts get in the way of a fun story. Examples:

I was surprised by how good the 3rd show was overall. If I hadn't seen the UK version before, I'd think TG US was about the best car show ever based on ep. 3.

I still watch it, but its because I'm a car addict. Like a crack addict, I'll take what I can get. My wife has no idea why I watch it except that I'm hoping it get's better. I think they really missed the boat with other talent and settled for a plastic dork, overweight NASCRAP homo and an Anderw Dice Clay wannabe. Tanner is the Stig, they just got a middle-school girl to wear the Stig costume and get out of the car for that bit. But I agree, it was the best thus far and I'm hoping it get's better.

Oh, and the whole "let's pile on Buick" thing was nearly impossible to watch. Awkward pauses between each lame punchline and a stupid Tiger Woods joke to put the exclamation point on FAIL!
