As some of you may know I was looking for a Mustang. After striking out locally I contacted a guy who had a car on the Atlanta craigslist. Long story short, I drove down the ATL on Saturday evening and then drove back Saturday night for this.
2008 Mustang GT premium with a manual. The only mods are the mufflers have been replaced with straight pipes, but new Flowmasters were in the trunk, and the hood scoop was painted to match the top. I haven’t figured that one out yet. Spotless inside and outside, newer Michelin tires, fresh detail, no accidents and ended up being a couple hundred under my budget.
Sadly these are the only pics I have, first is with my buddy’s 335 at the gas station after picked it up and then one in my driveway.
Nice! Welcome to the corral.
Lol. Thanks
Also does anyone know a good Mustang forum?
I kinda like the hood scoop like that.
I spent a lot of time on allfordmustangs back when the S197s came out. Good technical info there, but we have almost as strong a knowledge base here for a lot of questions.
BTW, you also have aftermarket brake rotors too.
Another vote here liking the hood scoop. If somebody had just described it to me without the photos, I wouldn't have been on board, but it actually looks good. (Of course, the effect is lost if the top is down, which is kind of the point of a convertible, so there's that.)

Well in that case, does anyone have suggestions for putting it on a diet?

Interior is tan and even with the top folded you can still see the color.

Diet? I think grm put the recent cam mustang on a diet, slightly newer I think, but might give you ideas.
Nice, nice, nice! Of course, I am partial to mustangs. On the diet, I once autocrossed with a 300 plus guy in my s197. She has a kenne bell supercharger and vorshlag suspension kit. It was just one run, but I was a second quicker!
Enjoy your beast!
@Robbie. Yeah Lexan windows and a $3500-4000 brake kit aren’t really in my wheelhouse right now. Although Everything I see says the brakes and wheels are the easy but expensive way.
I was looking more for the GRM method of weight reduction. You know the free or cheap method...
A buddy of mine has a 2008 convertible GT. It is a nice place to be on a warm night with the top down. Car looks good in white too.
If you're overly concerned about weight, a convertible wasn't the best choice!
But seriously. It's always cheap to unbolt and remove stuff from the interior, but how much do you want to compromise the car? The power leather seats weigh like 90lbs each. Run a single aluminum Kirkey seat and strip everything else out, you might get rid of a couple hundred pounds. Might as well lose the AC and heating systems. There's another 50lbs. But is that really what you want? Unbolt the convertible top and associated mechanism while you're at it.
Losing weight while keeping the car street friendly is much harder. There are lighter weight, tubular K members, lower suspension arms, radiator supports, and track bars out there. The factory wheels are heavy, but light rims aren't cheap either. A nice set of carbon fiber race seats drops weight and retains comfort, but be ready to get up off your wallet.
My coupe scaled at about 3450 prepped for autox - no spare, jack, etc, and 1/4 tank of gas - without me in it. It has the full premium interior, but only one seat is power since it's an 05, and a 5 speed. I didn't think that was too bad for a plush leather go-fasty car.
