Thanks SVReX! I now have my answer

The answer of course...is Miata. This will be #4 for me now which puts it right near the top of cars I've repeated on. I have been looking for a cheap "beater" miata to tinker with and enjoy as a backup DD on occasion. Well everything local is a beat on POS for too much money, or a garage queen for really too much money.

SVReX had mentioned his DD miata was for sale in another thread so we got to talking and I always feel better buying from someone I know and who's knowledge and opinion on a car I can trust. But of course there was the distance. I was pondering a fly and drive but finding it hard to fit into my work schedule. Well Paul had some business to conduct up this way so he was kind enough to deliver her today. As anticipated his description of the car was dead on if not even a bit unflattering when compared to the real thing. She's not perfect but she's just what I was looking for :)

There will be nothing shocking with this one (except maybe a wild repaint for fun) just a good stock driver to tinker with, who knows I might even hit an autocross or 2 this summer.

My current Miata is #3 if you count parts cars, #2 if not. Right at the top of cars I have repeated on. I learned that no matter what other kinds of cars I have, I need at least one Miata.

May have a MO trip planned, which would take me through Southern IL...

The diesel Miata is a little buried.

Yeah, so I ordered a new abs rear filler panel, short shifter, shifter boots. Getting ready to start on the body work and trying to choose a paint color....sigh...I always get carried away.

So I'm contemplating putting the toxic green I used on the Smart on this since I have enough left over

Also up for consideration is yellow, keeping it red but going to a metallic or candy, I wanted to go orange but the wife wants her VW in orange and doesn't want matching toys. Basically something bright and fun, I'm open to ideas :)

NA Miatas look good in blue. I still just want to paint my grey, which would be easier if I could paint.

I had thought about grey and blue is definitely on the list but not the stock mariner blue, maybe something like this.

My vote is for the Daytona Blue. Maybe with a Graphite Grey stripe or graphic/accent.

the new Blue on the Newer MazdaSpeed 3's is a nice color....

Lisa and I were just talking about Miata colors yesterday, and she said "I don't think you could have a bad color on a Miata." I'm inclined to agree with her. The green would be fun and cheap but might hurt you if you go to sell it. Either of the blues you have posted would be awesome, they're both beautiful colors. Personally I think I would go for the lighter one, it seems less somber and a Miata should not be somber!

Not purple. There's nothing wrong with purple on a Miata but you might be contractually required to have a sex change or put a rainbow sticker on the back. Not that there's anything wrong with that, either.
