Yes, it is your old Miata.
Well back home and time to get back to this one as well. Lots of parts waiting on me when I got here. New rear finish panel, shifter boots (both rubbers and a new leather outer boot) ECM short shifter.
But before all that it's clutch time. It's not quite dead yet but as SVReX told me when I was buying it "you can't really drive it in anger, and what's the fun in that with a miata"
So now I have to admit I've turned a corner in my life I think. I still love wrenching on stuff, I spent all day wrenching on the 53 Studebaker and it makes me happy. But I have plenty to do and I just want to drive the car so while my wife was getting her oil changed (I dont wrench on her DD either) she asked her mechanic what he'd charge for the full clutch job. $300 if I bring the parts...let's see, 300 to avoid being under that car all day and cursing at hard to reach bolts, 300 to get a day to spend with the family instead, 300 to let me focus on the Studebaker and VW.....my perspective has changed because suddenly $300 sounds like a real bargain. The car's headed up to his shop when I head out of town on my next trip in 2 weeks.

Makes perfect sense to me. I long ago realized I am a much better checkbook mechanic. My mechanic can do things in 1/10th of the time I can, if not faster.

This is a low buck toy so no turbo for now. If/when I do that I'll look for a fresh engine to start with, at 190,000 mile I'm not sure this one would appreciate the extra stress.
I don't know if you have picked a color yet, but I'll throw in Audi Nimbus Grey, or BMW Urban Green.

I may be confused, but you seem like a bit of a DIY guy , and Miata turbo setups are also really really really really cheap to DIY. They also are perfectly fine on high mile motors. Miatae are damn tough.

See above post about farming out even simple stuff like a clutch swap. I have too many projects going on, I just want this thing to drive. Eventually it may hit project status where I will play with some things but right now I have to get this truck built (and there's alot more to the build than it seems right now so it's going to be time consuming) get my wife's VW ready for the season and do about 1000 projects around the house. If I were to start on go fast projects I'd be digging into the Wartburg again.

Sounds good, I completely understand. The upside is they are so good that they are really really fun even without a turbo.
