So rewarding. Especially when it works!
Today this Allemano bodied Abarth 750 moved under its own power for the first time since Reagan was in office.
This thing was a mess when it came in. Two years later and it finally made its first trip around the block.
I was one proud dude. Other than paint work and upholstery this has been my solo project. No one else has touched it at our shop. I had to rebuild the transaxle twice due to a simple mistake.
The car has been accepted to the Quail motorsports gathering in Monterey this summer
The windshield frame is off at the chrome shop getting replated and then the car goes back to upholstery for a top. Then it is done.
Tidy!
One of my favorite details on these old coachbuilt italian things is the door handles
Flush and smooth
Button releases the lever
Pull to open and it snaps flush when you release. So simple. So clean.
I just realized those door handle photos are from when the car arrived with its awful metallic respray.
Anyway. I am just proud and gloating. This thing has turned out better than I thought I was capable of.
