So apparently the kid's 2010 Forte sedan has just started randomly popping its trunk open.  That's literally all I know to this point, so I can't rule out "social engineering" stuff like accidentally triggering the remote (although I doubt it with this user), but I thought I should ask the Hive: (1) Is this something they do?  (2) What's going on?  (3) How do I fix it?

TIA

remote. Mine used to do it randomly because I keep my keys in my front pocket. Coworker keeps her keys in her purse and has had the trunk pop too (2014 camry). With the forte the trunk button seems the easiest to activate, or at least was with both my remotes.

I hate the panic function on remotes. I use to trigger it accidently all the time on my F150.

I pulled the remote apart and put a small piece of paper between the circuit board and the rubber button.

Never did it after that.

My mom's rendezvous is like that. It's super easy to hit the trunk button on the remote.
