AC/DC frontman and historic racing enthusiast Brian Johnson will be acting as the Grand Marshall for the Historic Sportscar Racing season opening event at Palm Beach Int'l Raceway on February 10-13th.
You may remember some of the discussions about Brian around last year's Mitty; he's a genuine enthusiast and seems like a super cool guy. This event is close enough (~3.5 hours from our headquarters) that several of our staff members will be heading down. Anybody else?
Yeah, that's cool. If you see him there, ask him a question for me - Who told him that the sound that comes out of his mouth is the least bit musical?

Millions of adoring fans. To each his own, I suppose.
Nice guy. He gave me a hat for his race team one time.

as everyone knows.....
Rock and Roll ain't noise pollution!
Brian is a super nice guy, and very approachable. He hung out with us for few beers at the Mitty a couple of years ago and he is as down to earth as they come.
Don't get me wrong. I've heard several times that he's a great guy and a great car guy. I'd like to meet him. I just don't like his, uh, "music".

Oh he knows. I saw an interview where they were all there and a band mate said something along the lines of "well you know he doesn't really sing he kindof yells at the mic"
He makes money doing it, more power to him. :)
Back in Black is the most selling album by a band and the second most selling album in history. He must be doing something right. I'm probably half deaf from listening to that album.
I would love to meet him one day. He comes across as one of the few people in the entertainment industry that hasn't let fame go to his head. Alas, February is shaping up to be a busy month for me so a trip south is out.
They'll have track touring sessions were available, too. After the LeMons race, I think I know the way around...
I met him at the mitty. He is a SUPER cool guy. Very very nice. had plenty of time to stop and chat with little kids and take pictures with fans.
For those about to race, we solute you.

Again, nothing against him, but you are confusing entertainment with singing. I never opined that he wasn't a great entertainer. What I really meant was that I wonder how someone with a voice like that ever got the idea that they should go into music, that's all. He's a great guy, a great entertainer, but I just don't like his singing. YMMV.

Plenty of guys with "bad" voices have made a great living by singing.
Bob Dylan
Neil Young
Biz Marquee
I understand you not liking his style ( I actually prefer Bon Scott AC/ DC), but you can't argue with his results.......
yooouuu, you got what I need...
(racecars in print )
I lol'd.

We'll be sure to give him the message when we're hanging out with him in deluxe motor coach eating nothing but blue M&M's that have been carefully sorted by a dude named Nigel.

Axel Rose
Joe Cocker
Most of my favorite singers can't sing.
Saw him on Top Gear UK. The guy is a blast. Wish I could go.

It's rock and roll. Musical isn't necessarily a factor I once read a review of an AC/DC show in Montreal that began with "for the love of god, man, see a doctor about that voice". That said, I've never understood the appeal of Neil Young. That's just noise.
I shall now listen to Back in Black again to do tribute to this thread.
Janice Joplin was a guy? I never knew.
Is there a track tour deal at lunch time one of the days ?
