Okay, not sports car or racing related, but still car related. Production of the VW Bus is finally coming to an end. It has been made in Brazil until this year, and they are ending with a special edition:

I would really love to have one of these. Never gonna happen though.
A sad day indead.
Many mixed memories of a Danbury conversion when I was a kid. The good Camping holidays, room, hang out at home for sneaking beer in. The bad. Slower than molasses in winter. Frequent push starts by whole family with dad in driver’s seat. Appetite for engines. Last seen being driven off by some Australian students who planned to drive it across the continents and ship it back home.
I'd love one now, so did my wife. I say did as she was all for it until I pointed out how the VW engineers had cleverly used the occupants as part of the crush structure at the front, now she won’t even get in one. I can be really dumb at times.
Not with the damn Chicken Tax...
I just bought one last night! 1971 VW camper. Non running but no rust. Rough paint but it's 100% complete the interior is in very good shape (Clean it up and put in new curtains). Everything except the engine works and it has the most awesome backstory. An African Christian choir from California was taking it on a trip in 1987 (It had spent it's whole life in cali until then). It broke down on the interstate (Motor "seized") and the guy that I bought it off of stopped to help the choir out. They couldn't get it running so he towroped it to his house near buy and agreed to store it in his garage until the Christian Choir could come back for it. 4 years later the choir leader calls him up and signs the tittle over. It literally sat in this guys garage for 26 years until he pulled it out of the garage 4 weeks ago. Last registration is Cali plate expired in 1987 so the story seems to improbable to be false. Will get some pictures and start a build thread when I get it on Saturday. My wife is calling it her project and she is more excited about it than I am. Expect a learn me thread about AC VW's soon.

It's sad, but it's not surprising.
