1966 VW Splitty

That's how I knew I was in the right place when I saw this:

Mine had a big peace sign on the front in the place of the emblem, and a queen sized bed in the back.

If anyone ever showed up driving one of these to date my daughter, I'd kill him.

Man I miss that car!

I hated my first car because it was the Taurus. The post was really about my Jaguar.

The members here have collectively had some awesome cars. Glad I'm not the only one to get sentimental.

Not that one... that one succumbed to an accident.... although the driveline lived on in my 2nd car.... yep, another Volvo 1800S, this time it was a 1968 model.

Oh man, look at that! I still want one of those!!

The first car I drove was a hand me down 1983 accord. Like this, but maroon -

The first car I bought though, was my 85 IROC. I ruled.

My first car was a Taurus. Baby blue. Wagon. And I still managed to get a girlfriend. (Still have her, in fact.)

I guess the car gods figured I'd put in my time at that point, because my dad handed down his Stealth RT/TT to me. Drove the snot out of that thing for a few years (and never got into trouble, surprisingly - thank AWD and good tires for that) until I moved to Chicago for school and couldn't justify street parking it and filling it with premium on a no-money budget. Wish I still had that thing. I occasionally entertain buying one, but then I have memories of the engine bay being 15 pounds of motor in a 5 pound sack, and all the electronic stuff to break, and on and on. Maybe someday, when I've gotten old enough to forget all that.

1977 Celica GT. More bondo than metal. GM Hunter green respray over that light blue and rust. Had a Sansui stereo/cassette and Jenson speakers, a Cherry Bomb for a muffler and a Hurst T E36 M3 handle. Got it as a junior in HS...got rid of it when I went to college.
