New cowl hood, shiniest and least scratched thing on the truck (for now)
Looking for scratches.
Looking for some recommendations on the following:
Rubber floor mat to replace the whole carpet, ext cab
Replacement headliner, ext cab
Three bolt 2 hole exhaust gasket for the back of the y pipe that doesnt suck, vortec 350
Seat swap suggestions and pics
Good quality replacement mirrors, 88-94 non power
Thanks
It's a bit of newer styling but not so electronic as the later trucks, plus a better ride than earlier trucks.
Of course I actually like several generations of trucks, usually comes down to which is the most affordable at the time.
I love 73-87s
I love 67-72s
I am starting to love 60-66s
I love Task Forces
I like Advanced Designs.
However, in my opinion, these are the best bang for the buck and the most reliable of all of them.
I see 10 of these still on the road for every one 99-07.
Anything GMT900 and newer are overpriced and soulless.
We are seeing them as new as 2015 and 2016 with frame issues up here.
I think they are great looking trucks.
Versatile.
The aftermarket is paying more attention to them now as well.
To me, us I guess, these trucks are "lit".
(But I still look for 55-87s for sale daily)
Had a little extra time today and the sun wasn't trying to kill me. Took the rally wheels and fat tires off and put the steelies and grandpa tires on it. I go back and forth pretty often.
Man, that truck is just so right no matter what wheels are on it.. Right now i'm wavering between 15" original rallys and Torque Thrust D's for the next set of shoes for mine.
Just got my springs and shocks on over the weekend, 2 inch drop DJM springs up front and Belltech 4 inch drop leaf springs in the rear, Belltech Nitro drop 2 shocks all around. Didn't think a 2/4 would be this low. Got my alignment appointment tomorrow, replacing tie rods with the Mevotech TTX ones. It would have been easier if I hadn't replaced my lower control arms, didn't really need to as the bushings were ok.

I also run the Belltech drop leaf springs. I'd bet your truck already had drop shackles on it before you installed the Belltechs. Most of those conversion trucks got shackles along with the package. I'd say you're setting closer to 6 than 4.

Yeah, it's low. I ordered a stock shackle to replace my my old ones in case they had shot bushings, they were the same as what came out so I didn't think anything of it. I dig it though, got a compliment on it when I filled up at Costco yesterday. If it's too low for me to haul stuff in the bed i'll just throw a 1 or 1.5 inch lift block on it.
Raised my truck up two inches in the front and one in the back. Put some different wheels and tires on it. It's got the early 90s Texas vibe going on now with these new (old) shoes.
Also swapped the grille to a different style. The little tiny sealed beam headlights on the 88-89 grille lacked a lot in the performance department

I keep thinking about the work truck grill to get the new Holley LED lights for my OBS.
In reply to AnthonyGS (Forum Supporter) :
I'm sure happy with it. This is the third different grille I have run in this truck so I tend to hop around a bit until I settle on something.

My last two grilles were new OEM from General Motors. I have a parts guy buddy at the dealership who treats me very good on my parts prices and gets me stuff that most dealers wouldn't bother taking the time or effort. This time I took the aftermarket route though and saved a bundle of cash.
Grille, reflectors, bowtie, and turn signals are all Amazon. Aftermarket parts quality for these trucks is pretty decent. I have zero complaints about fitment or quality versus OEM parts.
Headlights and bulbs from Rockauto. Just normal Halogen sealed beam lights and a box of 3357A bulbs.
Headlight buckets from an S10 at PickNPull. Basically every GM vehicle ever that used these big rectangular headlights used the exact same bucket and retainer ring. I media blasted them and painted them up real nice with VHT chassis paint.
Headlight adjusters from GM dealer. I initially tried Dorman ones but they were so poorly made as to be unusable. New GM ones were pricey at 4 bucks each but perfect fitment.
I suspect this is the setup that will remain on the truck a while. I'm pretty happy with it.

Them center line style wheels look the business, what size and offset you running? I keep bouncing between torq thrust D's and 15 x 10 Old style Rallye wheels. Haven't made my mind up yet.
In reply to 06HHR (Forum Supporter) :
They're 15x10 American Racing Outlaw wheels. I don't remember the backspacing specification, but American only makes one 15x10 in this style and 5x5 bolt pattern. They poke out some but I was seeking that early 90s vibe and that's how we used to do it back then.
Apparently my 97 k1500 has a dual terminal blower motor instead of a single and I bought a single.
Anyone know the part number for the dual?
I just had my blower motor out this week to clean out the box so this is timely.
Having the two terminals means it's the second design blower motor. Rockauto lists several different brands of the second design variety.
The second terminal is just a ground wire. One power. One ground. You could secure the ground wire to one of the blower motor mount screws if you cared to do a little modification to the ground wire. Or swap the one you have now for the proper second design variety.

Awesome, i think I'll see if I can get the right one just for ease but good to know about the second design being the one I need
Sold mine a couple weeks ago. My first real truck. Learned a ton, I will miss it but it's basically been sitting. Hopefully won't regret it in the future.
