I can't figure out how Danica lost a popularity contest. Did she find a way to crash off the ballot?
This doge thing has gotten so out of hand if I ever see a Shiba Inu in person it will take all the concentration I have not to kick it as hard as I can, and I like dogs.

Wow! Such hate. Much irrational.

reddit.com/r/dogecoin is a good starting point. That's where the crowdfunding of this car started.
bah reddit doesn't work at work, I can't even view photobucket and most other image hosting sites. Its getting tricky to view GRM at work...

basically, a few weeks ago Phil Parsons Racing got a one race sponsorhip thru crowdfunding on the internet... the car got talked about a lot by the NASCAR race announcers during the Talledega race- at first they were talking about the silly doge meme on the car, then they would show the car for an entire 4 tire pit stop- which is something that they rarely do for the big teams...
then it came time for the internet to pick a car to get into the NASCAR all star race, which is only for past winners of that race, race winners since the last race, past series champions (i think), a couple of cars that win their qualifying races, and one car that gets the most fan votes..
i'm sure the universe thought that Danica was a sure thing to get the most votes- but the internet being the internet chose the underfunded team with hand me down equipment from other teams that had the silly internet meme on the car instead, which i think is just glorious.. they finished last of the cars that were running at the end of the race- on the lead lap and in 16th place with an undamaged race car.
the interesting thing going forward is how NASCAR is going to change the rules to assure that a start and park team never gets into their All Star race again, much like how they keep putting more and more teams into the Chase at the end of the year to make sure that all the big sponsors and the big team owners are properly represented...

Much truth.
Very sadness.
So anger.
In reply to novaderrik:
At least they broke the race up into small enough pieces that a car with no money could finish on the lead lap.
I think the internet at large trolling "real life" events is hilarious. I hope we see more of this kind of stuff.

It was. Phil only has Ford plate engines so they run a Fusion at Daytona and Talladega.

This is, unfortunately, what will happen.
I had no idea the all-star race wasthe past weekend let alone the Doge car made it in with fan votes. That is awesome, the fact the finished undamaged on the lead lap is even better. Seems like a small under funded team with a driver that has a good head about him and a good crew. Good on them.
I just like it whenever a small team gets to duke it out with the bigger teams- like when that one team got a 1-2 finish at Talledega last year or when Robby Gordon was funding his team selling energy drinks at Menards and always seemed to be up with the leaders at least for a while in every race he was in..
Hopefully Phil Parsons racing can keep that sweet, sweet internet troll money coming in long enough to build a good enough program to get some "real" sponsorship money..
