Ok, so Mazda sent a link out to their new advertisement, I'm guessing a super bowl commercial. I can't watch because the book of faces and I are not buddies.
Anyone watch it? My brother said it is half full of rotaries which is a good thing; it also appears to be tying SkyActive and rotary together. Any thoughts?
Not totally rotary filled (check out the cars from OTHER manufacturers) but still a big nod towards their performance heritage.
Youtube link to commercial
Pretty good, thanks for the link.
I like it but then I am a big Mazda fan anyway.
I like the cool footage but am left wondering what exactly Skyactive technology is.

Its like SkyNet (tm) for your car?
SkyActiv is actually really cool. It's a new engineering philosophy at Mazda to optimize everything on a car for efficiency (including power!). The engines are bad-ass high-compression things that are lighter, the transmissions are lighter and have more gears, and the car itself is lighter. It's a really, really good thing! Check it:

Skyactiv technology seems to be another gimmick to sell cars.
My mahzduh is powered by Ford.

Gimmick? Lighter weight, better handling, and more efficient engines are not a "gimmick". "Hybrids" and "Eco" are a gimmick.

It's definitely a gimmick to sell more cars.
Was that Bo Diddley?
I wondered if that was going to be GSH
GSH= brilliant. You hear his last album- "Pieces of a Man"? Great stuff.
I think SkyActive is kind of a gimmicky way of grouping various technology efforts at the company that are of value. I like the concepts and where Mazda is going with that stuff and I can recognize the need to easily convey this to the consumer but it does come off with a slight whiff of "Trail Rated" to me.
Now to get more of the styling in order... I really hope for Mazda's sake that the next 6 looks good again. The 2 seems a step in the right direction, the 3 not so much.
"SkyActiv" rolls off the tongue much better than "we made it lighter, more efficient, more power, and guaranteed to save baby seal pups!"
