I haven't paid much attention to Teslas, but I stumbled upon this guy's video and he, and the subject, are really interesting.

Yes, it's pretty cool what he's doing, and pretty eye opening on what Tesla does and does not want customers to do with their cars.

I knew about Rich Rebuilds but wasn't really checking out much of his videos until i saw the Motherboard interview, then i started watching them again.
That battery unit scares me. I mean it SCARES me. I’m an engineer by training and occupation. I respect the hell out of batteries. I still remember when I started working for a small firm that did large UPS systems years ago, we all got a very stern lecture about the one component that was guaranteed to KILL you. Granted, we did run a lot higher voltage than what I think Tesla does (we were over 500) but if it’s much over 48, I don’t care to be around it.
One of my good friends was a very lucky walking, talking, example of what it means to briefly become a conductor. We sometimes called him Stumpy because his right arm extended about 3” below his elbow. Only once did we ever ask to see the exit wound around his stomach area.
Will check his channel out.
Watch a Nova show called 'search for the super battery' ( or something close to that) to help appreciate how much energy is stored in a Lithium ion battery.
I spent too many hours in submarine battery wells to not respect batteries.
