some of my friends who are into drift are about 1000% excited about the BRZ (vice the FR-S) for drift action. I expect all of them to buy on in the next year. Gag for it being seen as a drift car.....will make every part twice as expensive in the aftermarket.

I also noticed the placement of the cup holder. That driver is short and seated close but if there was a coffee mug in position number 1, he would be knocking it with his elbow the entire time. Speaking of elbow, no arm rest.

If it's anything like my WRX, a pop-up armrest will probably be optional....
Looks neat. I'm ready for a real GRM test and review soon.
Autoblog had a first drive review today....and no comparisons were made to the MX5 at all.....in my mind that's the closest competition....

yes.. all the more reason I will never own one.
The Autoblog article seems to confirm my want for the FRS as it will be priced cheaper and maintain my inatinctual need for a key in ignition type start (vs push button) and the hint from the 'Yota employees that it will be more of the sports tune vs the BRZ's comfort tune to match it's more premium placement.
I wish it had an SLA front suspension and was about $3k less, but other than that it's hard to find fault with it!
He's smiling because he's thinking "I can't believe they just tossed me the keys and I'm slammin' this thing around in the rain and I don't even have to pay for tires!"

There's another vid of a Toyota test driver going for a spin on Fuji raceway. He did a few drift laps at the end and he wasn't using the handbrake.
I know some people are saying the wheels are too big, and I know 17" is the sweet spot in rim size, but it would look REALLY good lowered a tiny bit with 18" (FRS concept lookalike? ) wheels. And it's just begging for wider tires, both for performance and looks. It looks like you could easily fit 2" wider wheels under there without doing any goofy offset tricks, and it would look like a factory option.
Seems like a good car, I'd buy one if I had to get a new car, but I don't think it offers $25k+ of improvement over my AE92, especially when it's hauling another 600lbs. around that I can never get rid of.
