I need to know what you guys know as far as getting a very very very small sealed beam headlight. I suppose it does not have to be sealed beam, it would just require me to do more work, but I also want it to look aesthetically nice. And that is because this headlight will be popping up from the body of a car, naked. Think Porsche 928 style.

there were some 5 inch Hi-Low beam headlights in the 60s that were legal.....

or look at a Euro spec Fiat 500 or 600 from the 60s , not sealed beam but small

If it is a street legal car some states only allow DOT legal headlights. When I was getting a Assembly Title for my car  it was one of items mentioned in a meeting I had with local police and a preliminary safety check. Some motorcycle headlights may work for you and be DOT approved.

The '93 Camaro was fitted with the short lived small rectangular sealed beam.  Short lived as in not offered for many years.  Not short lived as in burned out quickly.

This application does call for a separate low beam and high beam.

The larger (and more popular) rectangular sealed beam has these dimensions...

As seen on this '92 Camaro:

You can take the little Camaro lights and warm it up and pull it apart then glue in a better bulb

Did one of the Oldsmobile's have really small sealed beam units?  I am thinking cutlass. The one they made from a caviler?

First car that popped into my mind... but I don't know if they're sealed beams. Plus I think he's looking for a round lamp.

Doesn't have to be round, but round is always better than squaresville.

the main purpose is to get the light high enough to do its job, but not so high that it's an eye sore.

Guess if I let the cat out of the bag you guys would have a better understanding.

a FB guy is trying to get these 3D printed stateside. If he does, and I can get the plans, all I need is to find a way to get the headlight to lift  up and forward on command for better roadway lighting.
thinking about making the rear part of the headlight bucket hinged.

Blacked out hid projector gets my vote. Hidden, effective, subtle.

I've seen an NA with blacked out projectors. It looked... sinister... even though the car was white.

Yeah the goal is to make the pop ups less noticed when "up" (out?). Basically, you get the style points when down, and the functionality when up. And at night, there isn't a whole lot to see, so it's not a bad thing if they stick up at night.

Don't the NA guys usually sub in some manner of 4-ish inch LED lightbar, then either fix the lights in position or limit pop-up travel? I feel like that's a pretty cool look.

Of course some sort of weather-sealed projector would be the best option in terms of light pattern. Looks like someone asked your question more or less verbatim on HIDplanet a few years back.
