I SAW THAT! I thought for sure I was sleep deprived. I'll be passing it tonight, I'll see if it is still there.
Little far of a drive for me, I'd love to get a picture.
It makes sense, because some billboards just get covered up, not always replaced.

Kinda like how they were stripping the siding off one of the older dealerships in my city and the old Rambler red R go uncovered painted on the brick for about a week.
Man, I miss Swank.

SFO is taking a break from the Internet for a while. He's still the goofball we all love. It'll be a good day when he decides to come back.

berkeleying Jalopnik. Great. I need to check links here more often.
SFO is a nut, we need more of his ilk here, I can't wait for him to come back.
So, is that likely just the bottom layer, well glued to the base layer? Not that good a picture, but it appears to be in pretty good shape for being, what, 20 years old?
I guess the only other options are practical joke or weird advertising campaign.
In reply to Streetwiseguy:
25 at this point. And yes, it's most likely glued on well. That is an original ad, you can see where it's peeling apart and the dirt lines across the ad.
Closer to 30 than 25. That's a first gen Probe GT, they came out in 1989.
A second gen '95 PGT was the first new car I bought for myself. :)
I've got to go to Chicago this weekend. Now I have something to look forward to besides Garret's popcorn and an open bar at the company party.

He has sworn off all things forum related. He occasionally comes out of his garage to mutter things about pajeros and nb miatas.
One theory I saw in the comments of the article was that this was the last glued paper ad before they switched to draped over canvas covers, and said canvas cover blew off.

I could understand this.

Maybe the GRM forum should send him a Valentin's card asking him to come back?

That would actually be hilarious. Start it at the Rolex this weekend, then mail it around the country to various folks and have it end up at the Mitty so it can get finished off. Then we get GRM to mail it to him. I'll bet they would.
I'll start an organizer thread if you guys want to do this.

This is brilliant. Or just send him a lot of cards in general.
