Sounds like a Pirelli-shod canoe, though not sure why.

IDK, but this controversy was posted on another board.......they weren't on "illegal rubber"

Agreed.
And who takes anything top Gear does as serious / face-value? It's an entertainment show.

No, I figure that just about everyone who reads GRM also reads Jalopnik. However, I do consider the GRM folks to be much more interested in (and knowledgable) about a technicality like this. It's amazing what happens when you don't check your sources. If you read thorugh it and look at the tires, you'll amazed at how such a reputable source made such a massive mistake.

I'm confused, though... Are you referring to Jalopnik as a reputable source?

Just a heads up since you are new. People don't really have any love for that site around here.

This, they're road tires, its legit, and jalopnik can seriously DIAF. Have I won the thread yet?

Its like most magazines for me, I read them for the pictures. Reading the words in it makes my head hurt.

Your are absolutely right and I was absolutely wrong, it was ignorant of me to assume this and refer to Jalopnik as "reputable" I deleted the post since it was flagged as a canoe and it really had no place on this forum. Jalopnik is a little bit like Top Gear but with alot less humor, they overlook the entire truth to make a point. In this way, Jalopnik is the epitomy of yellow journalism. This alleged scandal based on poor research is just further evidence of that. I contacted Jalopnik to try to explain the error and they're having a difficult time grasping that tire treads have to be adjusted to suit the width of a tire, that these tires could possibly be normal spec Pirellis and most importantly, they won't admit they made a massive mistake in their accusation.
They berkeleyed up, the other people berkeleyed up, and everyone who really gave a E36 M3 berkeleyed up. Are there enough obscenities there?
I've come to the realization that Jalopnik is one of the tabloids of automotive journalism.
They are obsessed with being "on top" of things, getting spy photos, leaking "secrets" and then when they have nothing better to do, find some way to make the car companies look bad.
I had enough of them last summer and haven't really been on there since. They are still in my FB feed, so sometimes I pop over there to see what they linked too, but other than that, I don't use them as a credible source.
unevolved wrote: Yeah, Jalopnik was badass several years ago when they were basically what Hooniverse is now.
This, times a million.
I stopped reading it when they redesigned the site a couple years ago and the usability went down the drain. They were amusing for a while.
I just gave up trying to explain it to the author. It was clear he wasn't going to change it or retract his suggestion that Pagani cheated. If you guys want look at the article and then do a google search for "Pirelli PZero Corsa" and "Pirelli Trofeo", it's clear that he switched the tires names in the article's pictures. This is almost as bad as the time the NY Times called the Porshce 911 Turbo "supercharged". It's laughable that Jalopnik made such a mistake and then won't fess up to it.

They were originally called turbosuperchargers when used on the planes they were used on in the 30's and 40's.
