Perhaps something different than one would expect.

I know thats 'off road' but after seeing some of the frost heaves on Highway 41 this past winter, it looks pretty road like to me.
Johnny Law always gets his man.
Never underestimate a good driver with no brains and balls so big he has to keep them in the trunk with it open.
I love the idiots in the 4wd comments.
well.. one thing going for that Crown Vic. That looks to be a fairly "solid" area with no dirt or mud. In that case, unless he gets on wheel up in the air.. rear wheel drive seems to do quite well.
He more has to worry about high centering
I used to take my Dads 93? Probe two-tracking all the time. I went further than most idiots with locking 4x4.
the slickrock is actually pretty grippy, which is why like was said, he's good as long as he keeps both rear tires on the ground. easy enough to do with the amount of articulation in the stock 4-link solid axle setup

I did the same with a 1st gen Hyundai Excel. All over South Jersey's Pine Barrens. I actually passed a few 4x4s stuck in the soft sand (that I skimmed over the top of)

LIke someone said, that "slick rock" is like sand paper. He did stuff that didn't require ground clearance, approach/departure, or break-over angles. I'm not saying I'd take me wife's minivan on that, but I'd follow him in my Benz. All you need for those areas is tires, a locked diff (or a good LSD) and balls. And I'm pretty sure that H1 wasn't "afraid" to go just because he wasn't there. There could be some Jeep owner 1/4 mile away filming these guys saying "look at those guys over there. He's afraid to come over here." A cool vid for sure though.
