I will just leave this here.
Years ago I saw an ad in Hot VWs for an outfit that advertised a flared Ghia convertible body (fiberglass...).
If I ever found one I'd go get a pan and build it up.
Someone dun smushed that there car!
It does solve one the biggest issues with a Ghia, no room for wide tires in the rear (body goes over tire). You can go a bit wider if you lower (swing axle) or jump up the camber (IRS), but that will quickly start working against you.
I have a little mixed feelings about this, but not Ghias in general. So pretty, relatively inexpensive, and tons of raw material for performance builds.
I heart KG's, but that top one misses the mark IMO. Integrate the flares and it works for me. As is, looks like someone hit a scratch-off ticket on their way to JC Whitney.
There is a guy locally that has an SP2 and brings it to cars and coffee occasionally. Brazilian built only. Nice car, has a bit of a Porsche look. The headlights aren't great.
Here is a cool chopped Ghia, built at Darrel Vittone's (RIP) Race Shop which was part of the original EMPI in the early 70s ,
Fast drag car that did 135mph in the 1/4 mile at Ontario raceway ,
its in Scotland now ,

The type 34 like many European cars was very clearly inspired by the corvair styling.

If you squint really hard, it can easily compete with a W116!

Ford Granada. Back in the day Ford's advertising compared them against the Mercedes at much less cost.
Mercury had the Monarch

No, that's my new Granada ESS.
(yes, I know that's a Granada Ghia and not a Granada ESS)
