So over the years with the Datsun 1200 I've been able to get around most of the pricey parts, I put together an 80% race engine for about $1200, found a mid close 4 speed for $600, a complete rear axle with LSD with alloy drums for $1200 but alas now the car is going very well and running toward the front it's become apparent that a 5 speed ultra close ratio box is in order.
The long and the short of it means $2500 or more. I've looked at various modern boxes but ratios aren't there and even if they were by the time you convert a box to fit an A12/15 you'll have that much spent.
So what would you give your kingdom for?

an LS9 crate motor - i really freaking want that. 2x the hp would be fun.

A rust free, damage free SAAB c900 hatchback shell. Well, since this is a fantasy, change that from hatchback to notchback.
If I assembled everything that I've collected for my stillborn c900 GRM $20xx challenge project into a solid, rust free chassis, I'd have a pretty decent car.

You mean like one of these for $500?

A well equipped garage with attached workroom.
At a PCA track day last month, the little 1200 was passing many a modern Z06 or M car and hit a mind blowing 110 mph on Spring Mtn Motorsports 3.4 mile layout but I had a coupe of spots where it was a little bit between gears. Couple that with my brain over and over say "if we only had a 5 speed dog box we'd be left foot braking flashing up and down through the box slaughtering them all"...............then The Finanace Department calls "Hello Mr Wallet here" .......he's already glaring at me about my purple crack habit, also known as new Hoosiers.......and so it goes.....on and on.

Switch to Toyo RRs and cut your tire bill in half by using them for twice as many heat cycles
I'd give my left and right for an 18rg or a 3tgte.
I am a simple man. I just want all my cars to not need any kind or service for six months. Nothing. I want them to just run and be happy.
Automotively, I would go with a C5 Z06 for my kingdom.
Currently I'm lusting for a Honda V-6 nestled between the fenders of my Miata. Such a good little car with such a crappy lump of a motor.

Was there an od unit with Datsun? The LBC guys use those leyland units and end up with seven speeds or go with a Toyota box, although the triumph guys will give you crap for a Toyota box or ford rear...
Time. I feel like if I had about 12 extra hours a day I could actually get things done and still be able to do my dad/husband stuff. Acquiring cars/parts is trivial in comparison.

A small hobby farm so my wife can have her horses and I can have my cars.
Taylor Race Engineering has a $100 bellhousing for a Nissan L4 to a Quaife/Ford Type E/Type 9 transmission. The Type E is a 4 speed, the Type 9 is the 5 speed from a XR4Ti, and Quaife and Taylor Race Eng. (TRE) make a bunch of stuff that follow those transmissions designs.
A new or properly rebuilt AE92 GTZ rack (2.5 turns linear)...I'd even be happy with an AE111 superstrut rack (2.6 turns variable). Looks like I'll have to settle for a regular AE110 rack (3.1 turns variable).
There are lots of close-ratio gearboxes available for my car. I have the C52 and there's the C160 which is a 6-speed with a similar top gear ratio, but it's a bit fragile. I can live with the C52 but my dream gearbox would have 1-5 similar to a C52 and a taller 6th for cruising. Not as fast as a C160 but better overall. Also it would have a Quaife worm gear LSD (you can still buy these, I'm trying to save up for one before they're NLA), equal length axles, and a straight-cut 1st just for the sounds

Yup. I would gladly pay that, if it's rust free. That would be a bit more than $500 in the Northeast. Well, maybe not, but the hard core c900 enthusiasts would scoop it up really fast. You know, the guys who keep 2 or 3 spare gear boxes around, I only have 1.

This. Time to play in the garage, time to actually go racing. I haven't autoxed in almost 3 years now.
Easy. Just caught up on everything the cars currently need. I know they'll always need more attention on an ongoing basis.
But the hundreds of hours I lavished on the race car over the winter, making everything new from the chassis outboard seems to have it staying in setup and driving great. This means a lot less time is needed between events to keep it ready, which equals time that can be applied to the fleet.

Do it now! When you get time to play, you'll be too old and hunkered up to enjoy it! Find the time!
A 3.67 gear set for the Fiat 850 transmission. BerniMotori has them for $1800 shipped.

I have the same problem with money...can't find the money, and this is quantifiable...so a lack of resources can be a real problem.
