Hey guys,
On my new to me 04 Suburban the third brake light isn't working. I looked at it this morning, and it appears that the lamp is not a bulb like I thought but rather a bunch of LED's. Do I need to replace the whole unit? If so where is the cheapest place to get one? I looked in the owners manual, but it only listed about 8 lamps, and had a note that if it wasn't listed to contact your dealer. Also how does that whole brake light assembly come out? It seemed that even with the two screws pulled out it was hitting the opened hatch, and not allowing the assembly to come out of its spot.
Also can anyone tell me for sure if a set of GM wireless headphones will work in this truck with its factory equipped rear seat entertainment system? It is a Factory Panasonic unit that is wired into the stereo system, and or a set of headphone jacks. I see wireless units listed on eBay for these trucks, and they are cheap, but I don't want to waste money on them if they won't work.
most of the 3rd brake stuff on trucks from the mid 90s up is just an LED strip. the whole strip needs to be replaced and happens by taking the lens off and the entire strip pops out, there is a plug on it that you need to unhook.
probably the same as every other one(astro, blazer, etc).. first thing i would do is unhook the plug and test for voltage before buying new LED's

I like this CHMSL for use on older cars. I've bought several at the junkyards. They are indeed common to S-Blazers, Astros, and a ton of other GM Trucks. I think you will pay $10-15 for a new (used) one.
I'd look on eBay or the junkyard for new LED chimsl
Oh congrats on the purchase! I didn't see that you bought it.

It does have voltage. Just need a new assembly now. Might check the local pull-a-part first.

LMC Truck will probably have it.
